LA CRESCENT — Three second-period goals pushed the Lancers past the Cardinals.

La Crescent-Hokah beat Fairmont Area 6-4 in nonconference boys hockey action Friday night in La Crescent.

The Cardinals jumped ahead in the first period when Brock Lutterman scored off an assist from Alec Reutzel at the 13:00 juncture on a power-play opportunity, but Hayden Griggs netted the equalizer for the Lancers 1:32 later off an assist from Cooper Carlson.

Hudson Artz sent the Cardinals into the first break with a lead after he scored an unassisted goal with 9:14 left.

Liam Farrell tied the matchup with 6:58 left in the middle period on an unassisted goal, but Lutterman gave the Cardinals the lead once again with an unassisted goal with 5:52 left.

Wyatt Farrell scored an unassisted goal and Reid Haffner put the Lancers ahead during a 20-second span with less than two minutes to go before the end of the second period, putting LCH ahead 4-3.

Farrell scored again to open the third period off an assist from Sawyer Christianson, then Nathan Masterson put the Lancers up 6-3 with 5:14 remaining on an unassisted goal.

Alexander Moeller scored the Cardinals’ final goal with 3:58 left off an assist from Kaiden Musser.

Fairmont netminder Rachel O’Connor made 22 saves for the Cardinals, while Logan Yehle stopped 27 shots in net for the Lancers to pocket the win.

Fairmont Area outshot LCH 31-28 in the matchup.

Fairmont Area (0-8) travels to Rochester to face Rochester Lourdes in a 5:30 p.m. matchup Thursday.
