Fairmont girls basketball wins 3rd in a row

NEW RICHLAND — Three consecutive victories.

Post player Brittney Mosloski netted a game-best 19 points to pace a balanced scoring attack to power the Fairmont Cardinals to an 80-49 victory over the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers during basketball action Saturday night in New Richland.

Mosloski and her fellow valuable reserves generated 28 points to help engineer the Cardinals’ third win in a row.

Point guard Faith Olson connected on 4 of 6 shots from 3-point range to pace her 14-point performance for Fairmont, while power forward Bryn Miller and post player Cadence Becker each netted 13 points in the win.

Miller also garnered a game-best 11 rebounds to complete her double-double effort, while Becker distributed three assists.

Guard Madysen Allen generated six points and pulled down five rebounds, guard Emma Gudahl scored six points and doled out three assists, while forward Rayah Quiring chipped in five points and six boards for Fairmont.

Miller and Quiring paced the Cardinals’ 40-17 rebounding edge on the game.

The Cardinals made 33 of 62 field goals overall for 53.2 percent, including 4 of 11 from 3-point range, to go with a 10-for-17 effort at the free throw line.

Sophie Stork and Sidney Schultz each made three trifectas to pace their co-team-best 13-point performances for the Panthers, while Erin Jacobson also connected for three 3s to fuel her 12-point effort.

Fairmont (7-4) plays host to Big South Conference opponent Jackson County Central at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday night at Cardinal Gym.

New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (5-4) travels to Blue Earth Area tonight for another nonconference game.
