7th-grade boys hoops split two

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont seventh-grade boys basketball teams split a pair of games with New Ulm on Tuesday in New Ulm.

Hadan Toomer netted 17 points to guide the Cardinals’ A-team to a 48-18 victory.

New Ulm downed Fairmont in the B-team game, 37-21. Hunter Johnson scored six points to top Fairmont.

The Cardinal seventh-graders travel to St. James on Dec. 10.

Waseca cagers rated in top 10

Both the Waseca boys basketball team and the Bluejays girls cagers are ranked in the top 10 of this week’s Associated Press poll.

Waseca holds the No. 1 spot in the Class 2A boys rankings, while the Bluejay girls lineup maintains the No. 9 position in 2A.

St. Peter holds the No. 8 position in the Class 3A boys poll, while Springfield is No. 8 in Class 1A.

Redwood Valley holds the No. 10 spot in the 2A girls rankings.
