PeeWees open hockey season at 1-2

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont PeeWees opened the season with a 1-2 record during weekend hockey action.

Fairmont posted a 5-3 victory over the Okoboji Blizzards on Saturday in Okoboji, Iowa. Eric Determan produced two goals for Fairmont, while Keagan Roloff and Klay Beemer each contributed one goal and an assist. Caleb Meyer chipped in a goal, while Mack Anderson doled out an assist.

Fairmont goalie Barret Scholl made 19 saves to net the win.

Worthington defeated Fairmont, 9-2, on Sunday in Worthington. Beemer netted both of Fairmont’s goals, with assists coming from Tyler Kurt and Logan Madsen.

Scholl posted 32 saves for Fairmont.

Luverne then rolled to a 14-4 win over Fairmont on Sunday at Martin County Arena.

Beemer tallied two goals, Gavin Kester generated one goal and a helper, Tyler Kurt added a goal, while Roloff tallied an assist.

Scholl amassed 36 saves for Fairmont.

12U girls hockey nets tie in opener

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont 12U girls hockey team opened the season with a 4-all tie against Windom on Sunday at Martin County Arena.

Maia Goerndt netted two goals for Fairmont, Madison Sokoloski supplied one goal and one assist, while Brooklyn Murphy chipped in one goal.

Goalie Ilana Moeller made 36 saves for Fairmont, which unleashed 45 shots on goal.

Fairmont travels to Marshall on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. game.
