North Union softball outslugs West Hancock

SWEA CITY — The Warrior girls battled to a Top of Iowa Conference softball win.

North Union beat the West Hancock Eagles by a 9-4 decision on Friday night in Swea City.

Hope Steinberger continued her hot hitting by collecting two hits and three RBIs after totaling four hits Thursday night. Cassie Beadle also had two hits for the Warriors.

Shantel Engeman pitched all seven innings for North Union, allowing four runs and striking out eight.

Ann Horstman had four hits and Carly Bruns had two more for the Eagles, while Madison Eisenman pitched four innings and Kennedy Kelly threw the final three.

North Union (5-6) plays in a tournament at 10 a.m. today at Spirit Lake, Iowa, while West Hancock (1-10) plays host to Bishop Garrigan on Monday night.
