Section 3A girls hockey at 5 p.m.

FAIRMONT — The Section 3A girls hockey quarterfinal between the No. 7-seeded Fairmont Area Cardinals and the No. 2-seeded Marshall Tigers will face off at 5 p.m. today at Red Baron Arena in Marshall.

The winner between the Cardinals and Tigers will face either No. 3-seeded Mankato West or No. 6-seeded Worthington in a 7 p.m. semifinal Saturday at the highest remaining seed’s home ice.

Boys hockey game tonight

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Area Cardinals boys hockey team will play host to the Waseca Bluejays at 7 p.m. tonight in a Big South Conference regular-season clash at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.

Valley wrestling locks up Saturday

LAKE CRYSTAL — The Valley Conference dual meet wrestling tournament will start at 5 p.m. Saturday at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial High School.

The Class AA No. 4-ranked Fairmont/Martin County West Red Bulls will grapple with Madelia/Truman/Martin Luther, St. Clair/Mankato Loyola and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area in that order, respectively.

The Red Bulls square off against the Marshall Tigers at 7 p.m. tonight in the Big South Conference dual meet championship clash at Cardinal Gym.

Fairmont hoops games reslated

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals girls and boys basketball teams have rescheduled their Big South games with the Jackson County Central Huskies.

The Fairmont girls hoopsters will travel to Jackson on Thursday, Feb. 14, for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff.

The Cardinals boys cagers will play host to the Huskies at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Cardinal Gym in Fairmont.

PeeWees net pair of wins

FAIRMONT — The Carlson Dental PeeWee hockey team of Fairmont posted a pair of wins over the Ames (Iowa) Flyers last Saturday at Martin County Arena.

Brock Lutterman produced two goals and one assist to pace Fairmont’s 6-2 Game 1 victory, while Jace Teveldal netted one goal and one helper.

Luke Kester, Hank Artz and Kegan Roloff each delivered one goal for Carlson Dental, while Mathew Cone, Tyson Pankow and Beau Becker distributed assists.

Goalie Ethan Geerdes made seven saves for Fairmont, which unleashed 42 shots on goal.

Kester produced a hat trick, while Connor Gronewald. Lutterman and Pankow each collected one goal and one assist to fuel a 6-1 Game 2 win over Ames.

Teveldal and Becker doled out one assist apiece, while Geerdes made 13 saves to net the win for Fairmont.
