Preseason boys tennis meeting on Tuesday

FAIRMONT — A preseason meeting for all Fairmont male student-athletes in grades 7-12 interested in playing tennis this spring will be held at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday in Room S224 at Fairmont High School.

Sagedahl captures 5 national track crowns

FAIRMONT — Sherwood Sagedahl of Fairmont won the national championship in all five 75-79 age-bracket events he competed in at the National Senior Track & Field Meet on Feb. 18-19 in Alburquerque, N.M.

Sagedahl captured top honors in the 60-meter dash in 9.73 seconds, 200-meter dash (32.36), 400-meter dash (1:13.57), 800-meter run (3:03.87) and mile run (7:06.96).

Parise rejoins the Wild

ST. PAUL (AP) — Zach Parise and Jason Pominville have rejoined the Minnesota Wild after sitting out three games because of the mumps.

Parise and Pominville were diagnosed with the highly contagious virus on Feb. 27 after coming back from the team’s five-day bye. Assistant coach Scott Stevens also had the mumps and returned for Minnesota’s home game Sunday against the San Jose Sharks.

All three were quarantined and no other players showed signs of the virus.

Parise has 14 goals and 14 assists in 50 games this season, while Pominville has 10 goals and 28 assists. The team is full strength for the first time since acquiring forwards Martin Hanzal and Ryan White from Arizona.
