FHS track & field to meet Thursday

FAIRMONT — A pre-season informational meeting for all Fairmont boys and girls in grades 9-12 interested in competing in track & field this spring will take place right after school on Thursday in the high school lunch room.

The meeting will last about 30 minutes.

Varsity basketball players and wrestlers who are still competing can sign up after their respective winter sport is completed. All others should make every effort to attend the meeting.

Fairmont nets No. 4 playoff seed

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Cardinals tip off the Section 2AA, South Sub-Section playoffs at home next Monday night, while the Blue Earth Area Bucs hit the road.

Fairmont netted the No. 4 seed and plays host to No. 5-seeded St. James Area in a 7 p.m. sub-section quarterfinal game at Cardinal Gym.

Blue Earth Area received the No. 7 seed and travels to New Richland for a 7 p.m. sub-section quarterfinal against No. 2-seeded New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.

No. 8-seeded Medford travels to No. 1-seeded Waterville-Elysian-Morristown next Monday night for a 7 p.m. South Sub-Section quarterfinal in Waterville, while No. 3-seeded Maple River plays host to No. 6-seeded Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at 7 p.m. next Monday night in Mapleton.
