BLUE EARTH — The Class A, No. 12-ranked Blue Earth Area Bucs wrestling lineup combined six falls with three received forfeits to trample the New Ulm Eagles, 57-16, during a Big South Conference wrestling dual meet on Thursday night in Blue Earth.

Davis Sunken, Max Ehrich and Caden Ochsendorf staked the hometown Bucs to a quick 18-0 lead on the scoreboard by reeling off three consecutive pins to open the dual meet.

Sunken pressed Jackson Bode’s shoulders to the canvas in 5:25 during 106-pound action, Ehrich needed a mere 28 seconds to dispose of 113-pound opponent Carter Brandes, while Ochsendorf earned the slap of the mat in 2:36 over Cole Ranweiler at 120 pounds.

Cole Klinkner, who’s ranked No. 6 at 145 pounds in the Class A state individual rankings, received a forfeit at his weight bracket for Blue Earth Area.

Class A No. 4-ranked 152-pounder Zach Buseman then added six more points for the Bucs by pinning Lane Miller in 2:39 at the 152-pound spot in the lineup.

Wyatt Tungland (170) and Isaac Martinez (182) received forfeits for Blue Earth Area before teammate Jesus Quintero needed only 34 seconds to pin New Ulm’s Hunter Landsteiner at 195 pounds.

Jordan Huse edged the Eagles’ Noah Linscheid by a 2-1 decision during 220-pound action, while Bucs’ heavyweight Trevor Oppedal earned a fall in only 34 seconds over Colby Wenninger to close out the home team’s victory.

Ryan Wacker recorded a fall in 3:02 over Koby Nagel during 126-pound action to produce six points for New Ulm.

Sean Howk tallied a major decision over Jaxen Klinkner at 132 for the Eagles, while Hunter Ranweiler netted a 7-2 decision over Dalton Nagel at 138.

Tanner Stark edged Roger Ziegler in 160-pound action by a 5-3 decision to round out New Ulm’s victories.

Blue Earth Area competes in the River Riot Invitational tonight and Saturday in Redwood Falls.
