FHS, BEA, MCW garner 16 all-district choices

FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Cardinals, Blue Earth Area Bucs and Martin County West/Martin Luther Mavericks combined to earn 16 all-district football selections this fall.

Senior defensive end Hunter Cox, senior linebacker/fullback Cory Lyons, junior quarterback Nate Kallenbach and junior linebacker/offensive guard Collin Steuber merited first-team South Central Red District honors for Fairmont.

Senior offensive tackle/defensive tackle Theo Krumholz and senior wide receiver/cornerback Christian Engeman represented the Cardinals as honorable mention choices.

Senior offensive tackle/defensive end Jared Armon, senior quarterback/safety Logan Jahnke, senior running back/cornerback Kaylan Legred and junior linebacker/fullback Zach Buseman garnered first-team South Central White District accolades for Blue Earth Area.

Senior linebacker/offensive guard Carter Wille and junior defensive end/fullback Aaron Burmeister represented Martin County West/Martin Luther on the all-district first team.

Senior offensive lineman/defensive tackle Jesus Quintero and senior safety/wide receiver Chris Sanders netted honorable mention all-district accolades for the Bucs, while senior quarterback/defensive back Ethan Hurn and junior linebacker Cam Dressen did likewise for the Mavericks.

Fairmont and Blue Earth Area combined for six selections on the all-Big South Conference volleyball team in 2016.

Junior middle hitter Courtney Williams proved the lone Fairmont choice on the East Division’s first team, while the junior tandem of setter Alissa Norman and middle hitter Lindsey Norman joined Blue Earth Area senior outside spiker Samantha Barslou on the first-team roster.

Blue Earth Area junior outside hitter Sofie Blair and Fairmont sophomore hitter/setter Bailee Swanson garnered honorable mention volleyball accolades.

Fairmont Area’s trio of sophomore striker Abby DeWitt, senior midfielder Myah Lytle and senior defender Sadie Sandersfeld earned honorable mention status on this fall’s all-Big South Conference girls soccer lineup.

Senior defender Leyton Becker proved the only honorable mention choice for Fairmont Area in the all-conference boys soccer voting.

Blue Earth Area senior singles player Gracie Leland and junior singles netter Julia Hanson proved the only coverage area student-athletes to be named to the all-Big South Conference girls tennis lineup this fall.

The senior tandem of Jenna Pavich and Molly Hawkins, junior Iliana Ramon, sophomore Sarah Krumholz and seventh-grader Laura Thompson all collected honorable mention accolades on the all-Big South Conference’s big schools division girls cross country team for 2016.

Junior Nathan Willett earned first-team honors for Fairmont, while sophomore teammate Andrew Moeller captured honorable mention all-BSC boys cross country status this fall.
