Bantams 1-3 at weekend tournament

FAIRMONT – The Carlson Dental Office Bantam hockey team of Fairmont compiled a 1-3 record during weekend ice action at the New Ulm tournament.

Waconia downed Fairmont, 7-1, in first-round action Friday night.

Hudson Artz tallied an unassisted goal for Fairmont, which produced 29 shots on goal. Netminder Dakotah Hoefker made 14 saves.

Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato defeated Fairmont in second-round play, 9-1, Saturday.

Mason Kotewa converted Joe Olson’s assist into Fairmont’s only goal.

Hoefker made six saves for Fairmont, which netted 22 shots on goal.

Hutchinson edged Fairmont, 5-1, in third-round action Saturday.

Kotewa tallied a goal off an assist from Artz en route to 22 shots on goal. Hoefker notched eight saves.

Artz netted two goals and Hoefker delivered 15 saves to pace Fairmont’s 3-1 fourth-round victory over St. Peter on Sunday.

Seth Becker supplied one goal, while Evan Carlson and Jacob Bocock distributed assists for Fairmont, which had 22 shots on goal.

The Carlson Dental Office Bantams play in the Albert Lea tournament this weekend.

Squirts post season opening win

FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Squirt ‘A’ hockey team posted a 6-4 season-opening win over New Ulm/Sleepy Eye on Sunday.

Jace Teveldal produced a hat trick to pace Fairmont’s winning effort, while Hank Artz, Connor Gronewald and Luke Kester each supplied one goal. Brock Lutterman and Beau Becker each distributed two assists, while Tyson Pankow and Gronewald doled out one helper each.

Fairmont goalie Ethan Geerdes made 27 saves to net the win.

Fairmont (1-0) travels to Luverne on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
