ST. PETER – The St. Peter Saints captured all seven points by straight-set sweeps to shut out the Fairmont Cardinals during a Big South Conference dual tennis meet on Tuesday in St. Peter.

Alex Sandquist and Natalie Yang netted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Bergen Senf and Morgan Cihoski at No. 1 doubles, while Claire Thompson and Alex Gault prevailed over Maggy Totzke and Makena Rodriguez at the second doubles spot, 6-0, 6-0.

Amelia Wernsing and Lizzie Orth combined at the No. 3 position to down Briana Joseph and Lauren Green, 6-1, 6-3, to complete the doubles bracket sweep.

Kelli Hanson netted a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Lauren Carlson at first singles, while Josie Carlson flip-flopped the scores in her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Brittany Bass at the No. 2 spot.

Lili Elofson captured back-to-back 6-0 set wins over Sydney Hainy at third singles, while Caitlin Salfer defeated Claire Nemmers at the No. 4 position, 6-2, 6-3.

Fairmont (3-11) plays host to Blue Earth Area at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cardinal Courts.

New Ulm 4, Blue Earth Area 3 – The Eagles captured three of four singles matches to help pace a one-point victory over the Bucs during Big South tennis action Tuesday at Schroeder Courts in Blue Earth.

Arika Howard claimed the lone singles point for Blue Earth Area, downing Emma Maudal in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 4 position.

Gracie Leland and Malarie Scholtes teamed at No. 1 doubles to outduel New Ulm’s Meleah Reinhart and Jane Arnoldt in a three-set clash, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

Julia Hanson and Macie Stevermer combined at No. 2 doubles to produce the Bucs’ third team point, downing the Eagles’ Breanna Widmer and Shelby Haseman, 6-3, 6-2.

Taylor Bolduan netted back-to-back 6-1 set wins over Maddie McCleary at first singles for New Ulm, while the Eagles’ Rose Dobie claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Sydney Blagg at the No. 2 singles position.

Sara Guymon tallied New Ulm’s other singles point by outdueling Athena Thompson in a three-setter, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Blue Earth Area (5-9) travels to Fairmont on Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. dual meet.
