ST. JAMES – The Class A, No. 4-ranked St. James Area Saints posted a 7-0 Big South Conference dual tennis meet victory over the Fairmont Cardinals on Monday in St. James.

Ashley Frederickson, who shares the No. 10 spot in the Class A individual state rankings, produced a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Cardinals’ Lauren Carlson during No. 1 singles action.

Miranda Jacoby netted a 6-0, 6-3 second singles decision over Fairmont’s Brittany Bass, while St. James Area’s Zoie Becker served a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Sydney Hainy during third singles action.

Lydia Sargent capped the Saints’ singles sweep by claiming a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Claire Nemmers at the No. 4 position.

Renata Hernandez and Hannah Loewen combined court skills at No. 1 doubles to post back-to-back 6-1 set wins over the Cardinals’ Morgan Cihoski and Emily O’Connor.

Kristin Leimer and Ellie Becker tallied a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Fairmont’s Bergen Senf and Holly Petrowiak at second doubles.

Hannah Petersen and Claire Lepp wrapped up the Saints’ doubles sweep by capturing a 6-0, 6-2 win over Maggy Totzke and Makena Rodriguez at the No. 3 spot.

Fairmont (2-9) plays host to New Ulm at 4:30 p.m. today at the Cardinal Courts in Fairmont in another Big South dual meet.
