Summer soccer play filling up area fields
FAIRMONT – Fairmont Soccer Association continued summer league action throughout the month of June. The results are as follows:
U11 Girls Division
Associate Optometry of Fairmont 0, Faribault 0 – Abby Cihoski and Kate Busche combined for nine saves in the scoreless game on June 30. Fairmont made 10 shots on goal.
U17 Girls Division
Smart Clinic of Fairmont 1, St. Peter 1 – Mikayla Stradtman scored Fairmont’s lone goal, with an assist from Cori Emler, on June 21. Brooke Hunwardsen made 10 saves as Fairmont’s goalie.
Smart Clinic of Fairmont 2, St. Peter 1 – Cori Emler assisted on both of Fairmont’s scores against St. Peter on June 23. Myah Lytle and Mikayla Soelter each knocked in a goal.
Brooke Hunwardsen handled Fairmont’s goaltending duties and stopped 12 shots.
Smart Clinic of Fairmont 3, Worthington 0 – Brooke Hunwardsen collected a goal and an assist during the first game of the Burnsville tournament on June 25-26. Cori Emler had two assists, while Myah Lytle had one. Emma Schultze and Kali Deboer scored the other two goals for Fairmont.
Myah Lytle had two saves, Cori Emler made three saves and Lindsay Miles had four for Fairmont.
Smart Clinic of Fairmont 1, Rochester El Fuego 0 – Lindsay Miles scored the only goal during the second game of the Burnsville Tournament. Brooke Hunwardsen assisted on the goal, and made 13 saves.
Rochester Euro 2, Smart Clinic of Fairmont 1 – Cori Emler provided Fairmont with a goal with an assist from Mikayla Stradtman during the third game of the Burnsville Tournament. Brooke Hunwardsen handled Fairmont’s goaltending responsibilities.
U12 Boys Division
St. Peter 4, Bank Midwest of Fairmont 2 – Matthew Kotewa scored both of Fairmont’s goals on June 23. He added seven saves and shared goaltending duties with Jack Holmers, who made nine saves.
Mankato 2, Bank Midwest of Fairmont 0 – Matthew Kotewa, Jack Holmers and Dillon Pluim combined goaltending duties on June 30. Kotewa made four saves, Pluim had six and Holmers stopped one.
Marshall 5, Bank Midwest of Fairmont 0 – Jack Holmers and Alex Cruz combined for six saves on July 5.
Marshall 4, Bank Midwest of Fairmont 1 – Jace Prindle scored Fairmont’s lone goal against Marshall on July 5. He also made three saves as goalie, while Jack Holmers and Dillon Pluim had eight and one, respectively.
