LAKE CRYSTAL – The Fairmont VFW Post 1222 baseball team recorded two wins against Lake Crystal in a doubleheader Saturday in Lake Crystal.

Post 1222 won the first game, 5-1, before beating Lake Crystal, 15-4, in six innings during the second game.

Jacob Tennyson pitched a complete first game to earn the win. He gave up one earned run on five hits, struck out eight and walked only one in seven innings of work.

Post 1222 scored four runs in the first inning, while Lake Crystal scored one, its only run of the game.

Fairmont Post 1222 scored its final run in the third inning.

Brady Allen went 2-for-3 with a run scored and batted in two runs for Post 1222.

Jordan Wolter scored a run on 2-for-4 hitting, while Lance Becker and Camren Saxton each added a hit apiece in the first win of the day.

Becker then got the six-inning second-game win, holding Lake Crystal to four runs – one earned – on four hits. He walked three and struck out four in the victory.

Becker also got a hit and scored two runs with another two runs batted in.

Wolter and Colby Kuhl both went 2-for-4 hitting. Wolter scored three runs, while Kuhl added a run scored and four runs batted in.

Post 1222 put up two runs to start the final game and then scored three in the third.

The team then added five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. With four runs scored in the sixth, Post 1222 took a 15-4 advantage to 10-run rule host Lake Crystal.

The home team scored a run in both the first and third innings, and two in the second.

Collin Steuber went 1-for-3 at the plate, batted in two runs and scored a run for Post 1222.

Allen tripled while scoring three runs and batting in two.

Nick Eversman went 1-for-2 and scored three runs while picking up an RBI for the visiting Post 1222 team.

Tennyson, Zach Ringnell and Tony Nuss had a hit each in the final victory of the day.

Fairmont Post 1222 (10-2) hosts St. James at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Winnebago Avenue Sports Complex in Fairmont.
