NORTH BRANCH - Funeral services for Fern H.M. Thompson, age 89, of North Branch, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with Chaplain Russ Steele officiating. Interment will follow the service in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.
Fern passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch, from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at Lakeview Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.
Fern was born July 5, 1925, in Fairmont, to parents, Fred and Anna (Diekman) Ebeling. She was united in marriage to Robert Martin Thompson on Aug. 9, 1945. Out of this marriage they had two sons and three daughters. After their marriage, they lived in the Fairmont area. In 1979, they moved to Rock Creek to help manage the Truck Stop, then in 1985, they moved to North Branch and managed TLC Greenhouses. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also loved flowers, gardening and birds.
She is survived by one son, David Thompson of Cambridge; three daughters, Joyce (Wendell "Wally") Lauseng of Fairmont and their children, Nikki (Chad) Taylor, Justin (Alysia) Lauseng; Judy (Pete) Fish of North Branch and their children, Michelle "Shelly" Petschke and significant other Tim, Shane (Marie) Petschke, Becky Petschke and significant other, Hank, Sabrina Petschke and significant other Ryan; Jolene Thompson of North Branch and her children, Vincent Thompson and Missy Thompson (fianc Adam); four step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1998; infant son, Dale in 1956; sister, Margaret Krumwiede and husband Richard; brothers, Marlan Ebeling and wife, Eileen, Gaylord Ebeling and wife, Blondie; sister-in-law, Alice Poulson; and father and mother-in-law, Fred and Ethel Thompson; and other relatives.
