Fairmont Legion plans Friday dinner
Fairmont American Legion will hold an all-you-can-eat fish dinner featuring Alaskan pollock from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Legion, 106 E. First St., Fairmont. The cost is $9 per person. Take-outs are available. This is open to the public.
Welcome Legion slates Saturday meal
Welcome Legion Post 553 will have a pork chop feed from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Welcome Legion Hall. They will serve smoked or grilled pork chops, or broasted chicken, baked potato, vegetable, applesauce and coffee. The public is welcome to attend.
Zoomobile in Martin County next week
Minnesota Zoomobile will be available 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairmont Library and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Truman Community Building. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Fairmont Library at (507) 238-4207.
The following area students recently graduated and were awarded degrees at the end of the 2014 spring semester at Central Lakes College: Blue Earth - Tyler Meyers, associate's degree in marine and small engine technology; Fairmont - Ethan Wellman, diploma of occupational proficiency in heavy equipment operation and maintenance; Winnebago - Derek Abel, diploma of occupational proficiency in marine and small engine technology.
The following area students were named to the dean's list for the 2014 spring semester at Winona State University in Winona: Fairmont - Colton Higgins, Susan Kelly, Ashley Kloeckner, Melissa Lubenow, Katrina Obray; Granada - Whitney Tonne; Sherburn - Gabrielle Perrine; Truman - Bryce Hansen, Kelsey Sanders; Welcome - Caleb Fiala.
The following area students graduated and were awarded degrees following the 2014 spring semester at Bethel University in St. Paul: Fairmont - Linnea Erickson, bachelor's degree in nursing; Laura Moeller, bachelor's degree in Spanish Ed., grades K-12; Frost - Amanda Ocker, bachelor's degree in nursing.
Kelly Bloomgren, Samantha Timmerman, and Rachel Tschumperlin, all of Fairmont, received the Chancellor's Award for the spring semester at the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Menomonie, Wis.
