CER announces upcoming activities
Community Education and Recreation in Fairmont will hold various class activities next week. First, there will be a Youth Tennis Camp, at which beginning tennis fundamentals and other fun activities will be taught by camp director Eric Johnson, from Monday through July 18 at the Fairmont High School tennis courts. Ages 7-10 will be from 8-8:45 a.m., while ages 11-14 will be from 8:50-9:35 a.m. The fee will be $39. Rackets may be purchased from the instructor the first day of class for a nominal fee. Also, a plant arts class taught by a Prairie Ecology Bus Center naturalist, at which participants will learn how to make art from items found on a nature walk. It will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Monday with location to be determined. The fee will be $16 with a CER pass, $18 without a pass. Pre-registration with payment is requested at Fairmont Community Education and Recreation located at Fairmont Elementary School. Historical Society plans Tuesday event
A DVD presentation featuring Lauren Tesdahl's military experience as a helicopter crew chief with the Marine Helicopter Squadron in Vietnam from 1965-1968 will be shown 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pioneer Museum in Fairmont. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.
Conservation Club to meet
Martin County Conservation Club will meet 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the club shelter house on the south end of North Silver Lake on County Road 8, just west of Hand's Park ball diamond. All members and the public are welcome to attend.
Valley Vue schedules community event
Valley Vue Care Center of Armstrong will host a free blood pressure and blood glucose clinic next week. There will be a clinic 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fenton Public Library in Fenton, Iowa.
