BLAINE - The St. Paul Blades blanked the Fairmont Area Cardinals 7-0 during White Division hockey action in the Schwan's Cup Tournament on Monday in Blaine.
Makayla Rogers netted a hat trick and added an assist to pace the Blades in the victory.
Molly Westfield then backstopped the Blade offense, stopping all of the Cardinals' 19 shots on goal.
Rogers needed just 47 seconds in the first period to score the first of her three goals.
The unassisted tally helped the Blades keep a 1-0 lead after the opening frame.
Rogers then scored her second just 37 seconds into the second period with an assist to Molly McMahon.
Madeline Greeley then gave the Blades a 3-0 lead at 8:59 in the second with the help of an assist from Sydney Ammann.
Rogers then completed the hat trick in the third period, when she fired a Brianna Menssen pass into the net to go ahead 4-0.
Laurel Vernon then sent Rogers' assist into the goal to go ahead 5-0 with 5:24 to go in the third period.
McMahon and Vernon then netted a pair of games in the final five minutes of the game to cap the 7-0 win.
Sadie Sandersfeld made 24 saves for the Cardinals, while the Blades tallied 31 shots on net.
Fairmont Area (5-6, 0-2 SCC) plays Marshall in the consolation semifinal at 2 p.m. today in Blaine.

Fairmont Area 4, Morris/Benson Area 3 - Cardinal senior forward Ben Mitchell caught a pass from Josh Wills and fired the game-winning shot into the net as Fairmont Area slipped past the Storm 4-3 in overtime during Minnehaha Academy Holiday Tournament action on Friday.
Cardinal senior Brock Johnson fired a shot on net with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to even the game. Johnson caught a pass from Trason Arens, and then fired a shot to send the game into overtime.
Reilly Hoefker scored his first goal of the season with an assist from Mitchell in the first period.
Ethan Lubenow then kept the Cardinals in the game with an unassisted tally.
Colton Cunning made 38 saves between the pipes for the Cardinals, while Fairmont Area fired 34 shots on net.
Fairmont Area (1-7) plays host to New Ulm in a 7 p.m. South Central Conference game on Thursday at Martin County Arena in Fairmont.
