Effort is appreciated

November 6, 2013
Fairmont Sentinel

To the Editor:

Bad events can lead to good things. In Minnesota, handcuffing a person with a disability for touching a pizza box led to the Olmsted Plan, recently released. The Olmsted Plan raises expectations for what the future can be like for people with disabilities.

In Fairmont, raising expectations has always been a part of our agenda. Torgerson Properties not only provides support through employment, it recently did a basket auction that raised nearly $3,000 for the Arc. The proceeds will ensure Arc programs continue, and providing employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities changes lives.

Thank you to Jason Subbert and the staff of Torgerson Properties; your efforts are much appreciated.
