MINNESOTA LAKE - Luke Becker produced three hits and a game-leading four RBIs to guide the Class AA No. 4-ranked Fairmont Cardinals to a 7-4 nonconference baseball victory over the Maple River Eagles on Monday in Minnesota Lake.
Luke Becker went 3-for-4, including a two-run double in the top of the sixth inning, to top the Cardinals' eight-hit performance.
Ben Kain went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored for Fairmont, while teammates Mitch Pfingsten, Spencer Chirpich and Bryce Holm each supplied one hit.
Andy Reiter allowed one run on one hit in 3 2/3 innings of relief to earn the pitching victory for the Cardinals. Reiter struck out two and issued three walks.
Chirpich struck out the only batter he faced in the bottom of the seventh inning to net the save.
Alek Borchardt started on the mound for the Cardinals, allowing three runs on three hits in three innings of work. Borchardt fanned two and issued four walks.
Maple River starting pitcher Zach Krengel gave up three runs on three hits, walked one and struck out four in three innings.
