Jean (Jorgenson) Murray, the daughter of Leonard and Marion (Armstrong) Jorgenson, was born March 24, 1953, in Fairmont, Minn. Jean passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 59.
She received her education in the Fairmont schools, graduating from Fairmont High School in 1972. After completing high school Jeannie attended Abbott Northwestern School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn., where she graduated with her three-year diploma in nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1976. During this time period, on June 21, 1975, Jeannie was united in marriage to Duane Murray at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Duane was serving in the U.S. Navy, so as the couple traveled to different duty stations throughout the states, they began raising their family and Jeannie was employed as an RN at Community Hospital in Toms River, New Jersey, Warminister General Hospital in Warminister, Pa., a hospital in Virginia Beach, Va., Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, and when Duane retired from the military they moved "home" to Estherville to make their permanent home. Jeannie has been employed the past 19 years as an RN at Avera Holy Family Health as a Home Health/Hospice Nurse. She also loved gardening, fish ponds and flowers. Most especially important to Jean was spending time with her family, and loving her time spent with grandchildren.
Left to cherish Jeannie's memory are her husband, Duane of Estherville; her children, Jerry Murray of Estherville, Jason Murray and special friend, Jessi Sprague of San Antonio, Texas, and Ryan Murray of Camp Pendelton, California; daughter-in-law, Aprile Murray of Estherville; three grandchildren, Logan, Tianna and Jaelyn; mother and father, Marion Peterson of Fairmont, Minn., and Leonard Jorgenson of Rochester, Minn.; father-in-law, Chuck Murray of Estherville; brother, Don Jorgenson and his wife, Denise of Granada, Minn., and sister, Nancy Starkey and her husband, Chet of Crescent City, Calif.
Preceding her in death were her son, Todd; grandson, Brandon; mother-in-law, Ardis Murray; brother, Jerry Jorgenson; step-mom, Joyce Jorgenson and step-father, Harold (Skip) Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Avera Holy Family Hospice.
