To the Editor:

On behalf of the Martin County West FFA Chapter, we would like to extend a thank you to the Martin County Area Foundation for awarding us a grant to aid in the completion of our greenhouse project.

This summer, we are building a 24-by-48-foot greenhouse on school grounds. The greenhouse will be used in a variety of classes, including horticulture, middle school agriculture and College in the Schools Plant Propagation (offered through the University of Minnesota).

In addition, it will be used with several FFA career development event teams to assist students in their preparation for competitions, and to grow plants for the community-supported agriculture garden and kid’s gardening program that are operated by the MCW FFA.

We are fortunate to have strong community organizations, such as the Martin County Area Foundation, that support exciting projects and offer great opportunities to youth in our area.
