To the Editor:

Wow, what a tour we had at Mayo Clinic Health System-Fairmont. Many staff were on hand to explain their departments as we saw the whole building.

We were impressed with the progressive care unit, where with a push of the button they had photo-voice contact with consulting staff and continuous vital signs to the nurse’s desk. In the basement, we saw the sleep lab and its function was explained.

While the Sentinel described it so well, there were so many aspects to be viewed. There was “Noel,” the OB Resusci Annie that can deliver a baby and may have postpartum hemorrhage. The new treatments and equipment in physical therapy for wound care were demonstrated to us. We looked into surgery, where surgeons explained the equipment that had been recently acquired to make their work more accurate, safer and comfortable. It was great.
