A great event, a great time

To the Editor:

This letter of thanks is for the NSSR, which is the abbreviation for National Straightline Snowmobile Racing. This group hosted a snowmobile racing event on Hall Lake here in Fairmont on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The event was held on a very cold and breezy day and still family and friends filled the southern portion of Hall Lake and the Yacht Club and its clubhouse.

Church members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ prepared and served the concessions. A huge thanks to whoever made the cinnamon rolls.

It was an event that many enjoyed and all the NSSR officials I spoke to were very knowledgeable of the machines being raced and great to chat with.

Fewer things in life are nicer than spending time with family and friends. Let me rephrase that:?NOTHING in life is nicer than spending time with family and friends. While I would rather spend my time on Hall Lake behind a ski rope, because it’s warmer, it was still a great day on the ice.

On Sunday, I returned to Hall Lake once again to walk around it for exercise and as I got to the place where the races had been held, I was delighted to see how clean and, with the exception of a soda container located about 500 yards from where the races had been ran, there was absolutely no litter on the ice of any kind.

I thank you NSSR for your professional presence on our lakes. A warm “Bunny Hat” off to you and all who helped for not leaving litter on the lakes for us to ski through this spring. See you next year.
