Glenys Ann Butler

EAST AURORA, N.Y. — Services for Glenys Ann (Maschoff) Butler, 77, of East Aurora, N.Y., will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Lakeview Funeral Home. A visitation and graveside service will be held at a later date in East Aurora, N.Y. under the direction of Kenneth Howe Funeral Home in East Aurora, N.Y.

Glenys passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, near Northrop, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Glenys Ann (Maschoff) Butler was born Feb. 23, 1944, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Edwin and Milda (Thiesse) Maschoff. She attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School in Fraser Township and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1961. Glenys then attended Abbott Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her degree in 1964. She would go on to obtain her master’s degree in counseling from the University of Minnesota and she worked for many years at the Carver County Mental Health Center in Waconia, Minn. as a counselor. In April 1981, Glenys was united in marriage to Michael Butler. Together, the couple made their home on a hobby farm near Prior Lake, Minn., where they raised horses and raced at Canterbury Park. Following their retirement, Glenys and Mike lived both in Minnesota and East Aurora, N.Y. before making the permanent move to East Aurora nearly 8 years ago. Glenys was a master gardener and volunteered at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in the Twin Cities and was also a member of the East Aurora Garden Club and took care of the numerous round-abouts there. Glenys had a passion for traveling and treasured the memories made on trips to Thailand where she took care of elephants, Egypt where she rode camels, and Spain. Glenys was also a past member of the Stables at the Knox Polo Club for many years.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Eldean Maschoff, Marlo (Gloria) Maschoff, and Linda (Larry) Becker; nieces and nephews, Pam (Kevin) Johnson, Gloria McNea, Tim Maschoff, Mara (Cory) Maschoff, Michael (DeAnn) Maschoff, Lisa (Brian) Escherich, Leslie (Jeff) Crissinger, Lonny (Lyn K) Becker, Lynn Becker, Leah (Rob) Wilkinson; as well as many other extended family and friends.
