Marva Jeanette was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Amboy, Minn., to Elmer and Louise (Pearl) Hartman. After high school, she attended cosmetology school in Mankato to become a beautician. On Sept. 19, 1948, she married the love of her life, Bob Russell. They moved to Blue Earth in 1948 where they raised their children and Marva worked as a beautician with her sister at a beauty shop in Winnebago for several years. In 1989, she went to work for the school district as a cook. Marva enjoyed dancing (polka) with Bob, being a part of card clubs, traveling in their motorhome to Branson and the West Coast, as well as tending to her flower garden, sewing and crocheting. She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church and was involved in Circle and taught Sunday School. Left to cherish such wonderful memories are her children, Dale (Francine) Russell of Blue Earth, Bobby Russell of Blue Earth, Susan Immens of Sherburn, and Steven (Cookie) Russell of Waseca; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Marva was the last survivor on both sides of her family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marva’s memory are preferred to Hope United Methodist Church or UHD Hospice.
