William C. Krautkremer

OCALA, Fla. — William “Bill” C. Krautkremer passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at his home. A funeral service will be announced later. Bill will have military honors and be laid to rest at Fort Snelling Cemetery in the spring of 2021.

Bill was born June 18, 1940, in Mankato, Minn., to Marge and Jake Krautkremer.

Bill married Marilynn Jensen in 1963. Together they had two children, Deborah May and William James.

Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.

In 1975, Bill was the manager of the 1896 Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant and had a baseball card shop with his son, Jim, in Fairmont, Minn. Bill was an avid collector of LA Dodgers baseball cards.

Bill married Betty (Miedtke) Hartung in 1988.

In 1993, Bill and Betty moved to Ocala, Fla., where he took up real estate as his final career. Bill and Betty delivered the Southwest Citizen newspaper for 10 years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Krautkremer; son, Jim (Jill) of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Deb (Jim) Pekarek of Minneapolis, Minn.; Betty’s children, David (Dawn) Hartung of Fairmont, Minn., Sheri (Charlie) LaRue of Ocala, Fla.; sister, Jean (Tom) French; brother, Phil (Buri) Krautkremer; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving extended family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Nicholas Pekarek; and Betty’s son, Danny Hartung.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Marion County or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Ocala, Florida.
