LuVerne Corhus

ELMORE — LuVerne Corhus, age 88, formerly of Elmore, MN, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Alexandria, MN, on Sept. 21, 2020.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, MN. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, with the burial following at Riverview Cemetery. In following the CDC and state guidelines, masks are required, and social distancing will be practiced.

LuVerne Charles Corhus was born May 17, 1932, to Louis and Bertha Corhus in rural Elmore. He was the youngest child, growing up with four older sisters. He first attended country school and later graduated from Elmore High School in 1950.

LuVerne served in the Navy from 1952-1956.

On June 24, 1967, he married the love of his life, Mary Nelson of Boone, IA. Together, he and Mary raised one daughter Karina. LuVerne and Mary made their home on the farm on which LuVerne was born. They farmed and resided together there for over 50 years.

LuVerne was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was a lifelong member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, MN, and served in many different capacities throughout the years.

LuVerne had a great love of the farm and for animals caring for many horses, dogs and cats over the years.

He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing a good joke or story. His hobbies including water skiing, welding, restoring tractors, and building carts. He also loved giving thrilling go-cart rides on the cart that he built to family and friends who visited the farm. He will be deeply missed.

LuVerne is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Karina (Daniel) of Sheldon, IA; grandchildren, Caleb and Marissa Baker; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Joyce Fuhrman, Opal Barnes, Arlene Gordon and Audrey Kellogg.
