Geraldine ‘Geri’ Erickson

FAIRMONT — A celebration of life service for Geraldine “Geri” Erickson, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of Fox Lake Village, rural Welcome, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Bethel Evangel-ical Free Church in Fairmont, Minn., with Pastor Jerry Evelsizer officiating. Burial will be in the Welcome City Cemetery, Welcome, Minn.

Geri was called to her eternal rest Friday afternoon, July 10, 2020, at Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont.

Geraldine Elizabeth Brockman was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Fox Lake Township, Martin County, Minn. She attended Fox Lake 22B Charter School, then Welcome High School, graduating with the class of 1946. Geri was employed at Fairmont Canning Company and then 3M in Fairmont.

On May 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Marland C. Erickson in Welcome, Minn. After their marriage, they lived in Fairmont until moving to Fox Lake Village in 1954 where they raised their family.

Geri was employed at the Welcome School in the lunchroom and later at Trojan Seed Plant in rural Welcome.

Marland died July 19, 1994. She continued living in Fox Lake until moving to Fairmont. Since October 2015, she has been a resident of Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont.

Geri was faithful member of Fox Lake Chapel in Fox Lake where she taught Sunday School. She then attended Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont and belonged to Fox Lake Extension Groups.

At her home in Fox Lake, she would feed the birds, raised many animals especially dogs and cats. Gardening, canning and working in her flower garden were her pastimes. Spending time with her family was very special to her.

She is survived by her four sons, Jeffrey Erickson of Fairmont, Neil (Carol) Erickson of rural Welcome, Jay Erickson of Merrifield, Minn., Stacey Erickson of Fairmont; daughter, Heidi Jo (Robert) Von Holdt of Granada, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Gwen Kitzerow of Truman, Minn.; brother, Lorenz (Maverene) Brockman of rural Welcome; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Elizabeth Brockman; husband, Marland Erickson; brother-in-law, Robert Kitzerow; and other relatives.
