FAIRMONT — Bruce Ellis Saxton, age 68, of Fairmont, passed away quietly Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at home, after an extended illness.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born Oct. 27, 1951, at Fort Devens in Shirley, Mass., to Ellis and Arlene (Lidke) Saxton. Bruce was a lifelong resident of Martin County, graduating in 1970 from Fairmont High School.

He married Dale Kelly in 1970, and they raised three children, Jody, Matthew and Ryan.

Bruce worked for Cash-Way Lumber and Community Education and Recreation in Fairmont before opening Harold’s Supper Club in Northrop, then returned to home remodeling.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dale; children, Jody Saxton West (Thomas) of Northfield, Minn., Matthew (Ashley) of Aurora, Colo.; Ryan Saxton (Carrie) of Owatonna, Minn.; six grandchildren, Gunner West, Garrett West, Gavin Saxton, Amelia Saxton, Laney Saxton, and Olivia Saxton; mother, Arlene Saxton of Fairmont, Minn.; sisters, Sue (Bill) Beyer of North Mankato, Minn.; Dawn (Tom) Peymann of North Mankato, Minn.; brother, Dennis (Lynne) of North Saint Paul, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Saxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Martin County Genealogical Society.
