Wayne Ralph Flohrs was born April 6, 1924, in Triumph, Minn., the son of Rudolph and Erna (Hilgendorf) Flohrs. Growing up, Wayne attended country school in rural Trimont, Minn., and was a member of the 1941 graduating class from Truman High School in Truman, Minn.

On June 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Margaret Richmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, near Ormsby, Minn. Together they made their home on a farm near Trimont and were blessed with two sons, Robert and William.

Wayne farmed until he and Margaret moved to Fairmont in 1968. He then worked for the Soil Conservation Service, and later was employed by Martin County. He retired in 1988.

He was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township and when he and Margaret moved to Fairmont, they joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. Wayne served on the church elders board and was part of the County Planning Commission.

He enjoyed traveling and cherished memories made during annual fishing trips up north with Margaret. They were snowbirds and, for many years, made their winter home in Bradenton, Fla., and Mesa, Ariz., where he spent much of his free time on the golf course.

Most importantly, he treasured his time spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Robert Flohrs and his wife, Rita of Locust Grove, Va., and William Flohrs and his wife, Lyla of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Jason Flohrs, Ryan (Tammy) Flohrs, Jennifer (Sam) Kolich, and Robin (Nate) McAvoy; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Shirley Pfeil of Mesa, Ariz.; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Rudolph and Erna Flohrs, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; brother, Kenneth Flohrs and his wife, Eunice; and sister, Faye Miller and her husband, George.
