Iris passed away Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2020, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Iris M. (Nelson) Wokasch was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Comfrey, Minn., the daughter of Alexander and Alma (Adams) Nelson. She began her education attending school in Comfrey before moving to Fairmont and later graduated high school in Yakima, Wash. On Oct. 6, 1951, Iris was united in marriage to Robert Wokasch. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with three children, Linda, Scott, and Cynthia. Iris worked for the Fairmont Telephone Company for a few years and was then blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom while her children were young. In 1970, Iris began working at Madsen’s until 1981 when she began working at Hardees as a manager until her retirement in 2002. Iris was a member of St. John’s UCC church for over 69 years and was active in various groups within the church. In her spare time, she treasured spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Roger) Rasche, Scott (Tammy) Wokasch, and Cynthia (Terry) Boesch; grandchildren, Jason Rasche, Jonathan Rasche, Jennifer Rasche, Jill McKeown, Derik Garry, Amber Menke, and Melissa Wokasch; great-grandchildren, Cobi, Kyley, Madison, Carly, Ella, Brea, Clarissa, Alexis, Jevin, Nova, and Titan; special niece, Carmen (James) Bornzin; as well as several other nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander, and Alma Nelson; husband, Robert Wokasch; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Harriet Wokasch; two sisters, Mercedes Stevens and Loris Jean Gradine; and four brothers, James Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Mick Nelson, and Allen Nelson.
