SHERBURN — Ruth Ella Lutterman (Dorschner), 87, of Sherburn, Minn., passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2020, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn., from natural causes. A celebration of life service for her will be held at a later time.

Ruth was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Jackson, Minn., to parents Mathilda and Wenzel Dorschner. Ruthie, as she was known, attended school for 12 years in Jackson.

After high school, Ruth met the love of her life, Leon Lutterman, at Fox Lake Ballroom. On June 5, 1952, Ruth walked down the aisle of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, carrying a bouquet of her favorite red roses, and began the first of many years of her life together with Leon. After they were married, they lived on a farm near Sherburn and later moved to town.

Ruth and Leon loved to dance and spend time with friends and family. Ruth treasured times with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and never failed to acknowledge a family birthday with a card or gift.

Ruth did a lot of reading and enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. You could always assume there was a jigsaw puzzle in progress at her house, and she was a crossword puzzle aficionado — always worked the tough puzzles in ink. She was crafty and talented, capable and resourceful. An occasional scratch-off ticket was a treat that she especially enjoyed.

Over the years, Ruth worked at Univac, Casey’s General Store and Hardware Hank.

She will be remembered by her children, Loren Lutterman (Vicki), Paula Finke (Mick), Kevin Lutterman (Paulette), Michelle/Kelly Melby, and Angie Archer (Jim); grandchildren, Josh (Erin), Jake (Lacey) Jesse (Clarrissa), Brian, Aaron, Sheldon (Kelly), Justin (Carissa), Adam (Vera), and Ester; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Alison, Hazel, Layla, Samuel, Elliot, Autumn, April, Christian, LeRoy, Trenton, Gwen, Charlotte, Abigail, Madix, Nathan, Carter, Caitlin, Adam Jr. and baby boy on the way. Of her original 12 siblings, Ruth is survived by Marian Herrig, Vonnie Fritscher, Ivan Dorschner (Joyce), and Armond Dorschner (Nancy); also by in-laws, Anna Mae Ambrose, Alice Sokoloski, Irene Lutterman, Pat Bretzman, Sheri Crissinger, Judy Peddycoart, and Arnie Groshens; many nieces, nephews and family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; her parents; several siblings and in-laws.

She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruth’s life and legacy will be held at a later time.
