LeRoy C. Franck

SHERBURN — LeRoy C. Franck, age 85, was called to his eternal rest Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, Minn. In light of the COVID-19 concerns, a private family graveside service will be held for him. LeRoy Charles Franck was born Feb. 2, 1935, on the family farm in Lake Belt Township near Dunnell, Minn., the son of Herman and Ella (Schmidt) Franck. He attended District 65 Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Ceylon High School in 1952. LeRoy served two years in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, he began to farm in the spring of 1957. On July 29, 1962, LeRoy was united in marriage to Janice Loraine Anderson at West Prairie Church in Kindred, N.D. Together on the farm, they raised cattle, hogs, and farmed the land. He was proud that he farmed the land that has been in the Franck family since 1894. He enjoyed golfing, coffee with friends, spending winters in Texas, and watching sports; whether it was watching his children, grandchildren or watching professional sports. LeRoy was actively involved in his community, serving on the Ceylon School Board, Martin County Pork Producers Board, Ceylon Co-op Board, Fox Lake Golf Club Board, MCW Booster Club, FSA Board and ASC Township Committee. He was a life-time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. After retiring from farming, they moved to Fairmont in 2010, residing at the Meadows until they moved in 2018 to Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. LeRoy leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Janice; four children, Nancy (Marv) Hansen of Sherburn, Minn., Denise Meister of Houston, Texas, Keith (Jody) Franck of Dunnell, Minn., Larry (Emily) of Nevis, Minn.;

nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Gerhardt of Fairmont; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margery Franck and Irene Reiman; brother, Earl Franck; brother-in-laws, Erwin Reiman and Albert Gerhardt.
