FAIRMONT — Services are pending for Bruce J. Nawrocki, age 62, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Fairmont, Minn. Bruce passed away Friday, March 20, 2020, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bruce James Nawrocki was born Jan. 6, 1958, in Fairmont, Minn., to Louis and Marjorie (Nutt) Nawrocki. Growing up, he attended St. John Vianney Catholic School and graduated from Fairmont High School. Following his high school graduation, Bruce earned his technician degree at Jackson Vocational School.

In 1979, Bruce moved to Clatskanie, Oregon, and made his home in Portland a few years later. He worked for GTE/Verizon as a special services data technician for over 30 years.

Bruce was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking trips to Alaska and was an avid hockey and Oregon Ducks fan. He had a generous heart and often gave to Ducks Unlimited, Union Gospel Mission, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Elder Hear and Mission 22.

He could, and would, make conversation with everyone; he was “everyone’s best friend.” Bruce was known for his bright, mischievous smile and kind, giving heart. He lived for his family and friends.

You could often find him sleeping in the sun, whether on a rock or log, or in the fishing boat.

Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ryan Nawrocki and his wife, Charmaine of Rainier, Ore., and Lauren Nawrocki of Portland, Ore.; a grandson due in June; sisters, Susan Skiem and her husband, Craig of Orono, Minn., and Ann Casteneda of Oakdale, Calif.; eight nieces and nephews; eight grand-nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marjorie “Bunny” Nawrocki.
