FAIRMONT — A memorial visitation for Regina “Jeannie” M. Nelson, age 75, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Jeannie passed away Saturday morning, March 7, 2020, at her home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Regina “Jeannie” Mae (Ferguson) Nelson was born June 18, 1944, in Swea City, Iowa, the daughter of Lester “Dick” Ferguson and Mary Ann (Schmit) Ferguson Froehle. Jeannie attended and later graduated from Bancroft High School. She furthered her education at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

On April 11, 1966, Jeannie was united in marriage to Gary Nelson in Bancroft, Iowa. The couple resided in Denmark Township near Ringsted, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children, Michael and Pat.

After Gary passed away, Jeannie moved to Fairmont, Minn., where she worked at Teladyne in Fairmont and later for Torgerson Properties as a housekeeper until her retirement in 2005.

During her free time, Jeannie enjoyed tending to her flowers. She most loved being able to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and traveling with her son.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Nelson of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter, Pat Bursell and her husband, Brandon of Page, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ashley Olson of Welcome, Minn., Benjamin Olson of Fairmont; sister, Janice Loock and her husband, Orv; sister-in-law, Lois Ferguson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Nelson; stepfather, Maurice Froehle; brother, Delbert Ferguson; sister, Marlene Sturm; brothers-in-law, Duane “Bud” Nelson, and Norman Nelson; and sister-in-law, Cleo Long.
