PINE CITY — A Celebration of Life service for Velda I. Logemann, age 92, of Pine City, Minn., formerly of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Fairmont, with burial following at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Lakeview Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Velda passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 4, 2020, at the Ecumen Health Care Center in North Branch, Minn., surrounded by her loving family.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Velda Estle was born July 1, 1927, in Lakota, Iowa, to T.R. and Mary (Phander) Estle. She attended school in Ledyard, Iowa, and graduated in 1944. She attended Abbott School of Nursing in Minneapolis.

She married Harlan Logemann on Feb. 26, 1946, in Shakopee, Minn.

Harlan and Velda owned and operated grocery stores in Story City, Iowa and Pemberton, Minn., before moving to Fairmont in 1957. When Harlan passed away in 2013, they had been married for 67 years.

Velda worked as an LPN at Fairmont Community Hospital, Lakeview Health Care Center, Crestview Nursing Home and in public health care.

She did extensive volunteer work for the Salvation Army, Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary, Lakeview Care Center and Meals on Wheels. In 2007, she was honored as Martin County Outstanding Senior Citizen.

She spent countless hours exploring family genealogy. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles and crosswords, teaching Sunday School and providing food, prayers and assistance to countless friends and family members.

Velda is survived by daughters, Susan Johnson of Pine City and Amy of Willowbrook, Ill.; son, Dennis of Texas; foster son, Mike Bullock of New Ulm; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leon McCoy of Spirit Lake, Iowa; favorite nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Sherry Johnson; son-in-law, Ben Johnson; seven sisters; and four brothers.

Velda expressed her desire for memorials to the Evangelical Covenant Church.
