FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Ruth D. Voelker, age 96, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center Chapel in Fairmont, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Truman, Minn.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruth Dorothy Senne was born June 14, 1923, at home in Fraser Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of William F. and Lena (Gieske) Senne. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in rural West Rutland Township until her confirmation in 1937. During her teen years, she worked as a “hired girl” for various families.

On Aug. 23, 1942, she married Otto H. Voelker at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Rutland Township. Together, they farmed in Westford Township and enjoyed many fishing trips and traveling. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening, embroidery and refinishing furniture. In 1981, they retired to a home in Fairmont. Otto died Jan. 3, 1999.

In 2008, she moved to Maplewood Residence. In May 2013, she entered Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center.

Ruth was baptized and trained in the Christian faith. She lived her faith and shared it with everyone around her. She went to be with her Lord on Christmas Day 2019 at the Methodist Health Center in Fairmont Minn., at the age of 96.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Krause and her husband, Eugene, of Medford Minn., Beverly Hussong of Okabena Minn.; 10 grandchildren, Judy Hvamstad and her husband Scott, Jonathan Frette, Karen Masso and her friend Travis Asplund, Kathryn Frette, Sarah Jones and her husband Patrick, Alan Hussong, Melanie Hussong, Joel Hussong and his friend Jovanna Arcos, Glenn Hussong and his wife Samantha, Thomas Hussong and his wife Becky; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Smith and her husband Donnie, Lisa Kopitzke and her husband Kris; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lavonne Peters of Osakis, and Una Anderson of Fairmont; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto H. Voelker; one grandson, Russell Hussong; son-in-laws, Clyde Hussong and Erling Frette; brothers, Edgar, Earl, Richard; sisters, Hazel Lange and Margaret Wegner, four infant siblings including Edna and Olga; brother-in-laws, Alvin and Arlo Voelker, Garry Sauck, Howard Schrupp, Emil Schultz, Herbert Lange, Ellsworth Wegner, Karl Peters and Eldean Anderson; sister-in-laws, Irene, Ruth, Frieda, and Mildred Senne, Elsie Schultz, Dorothy Schrupp, and Lydia, Ione and Lorraine Voelker.
