KASSON — Rosann Lucille Yurcek, age 88, of Kasson, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1904 Mantorville Ave., in Kasson, with Father John Lasuba as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery, Mantorville.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 801 Seventh St. SE, in Kasson, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association Prairie Meadows Senior Living, and/or St Croix Hospice.
Rosann Lucille was born Sept. 7, 1931, in St Paul, Minn., the daughter of J Rudy and Marie Agnes (Anfang) Hoffmann. Rosann’s family moved to Redwood Falls and then back to St. Paul in her early years. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1949. She graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul with a biology degree and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in St. Paul with a BSN degree in 1953.
On Sept. 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert H. Yurcek. The couple made their home in Sherburn, Minn., where Rosann raised her family along with working as a registered nurse at the Trimont Nursing Home, and then at the Fairmont Community Hospital, retiring from nursing in 1994. She was a compassionate and caring nurse, always striving to provide the best possible care for and to meet the needs of her patients.
Following her retirement, as a nurse she embarked on a second “career” as office manager for her son’s CPA practice in Madelia. They moved to their home in Kasson in 2007.
Her Catholic faith was very important to her throughout her life. In her later years, she attended daily Mass with her husband.
She enjoyed crafting and bestowed upon her children and grandchildren many homemade Christmas ornaments, which are a cherished reminder of her love for them.
She loved traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was able to enjoy a number of special vacations over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert H. Yurcek Sr. of Kasson; five children, Robert H. (Linda) Yurcek Jr. of Madelia, Minn., James J. (Ann) Yurcek of Lancaster, Wis., Catherine A. Schultz (Mark Johnson) of Rochester, Diane M. (Tom) McBride of Mantorville, Carol J .(Allyn) Forsyth of San Diego, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rosalind Hoffmann of Maitland, Fla., Mary Beth Hoffmann of Arlington, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Charles J. and Judy Yurcek of Hood River, Ore.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marie (Mitzi) Stevens; brothers, Russ Hoffmann, Joe Hoffmann; brothers-in-law, Glenn Stevens and John J. Yurcek; sisters-in-law, Anacleta Seifert, Elizabeth Yurcek, Janet Kaysen, Rita Corradi; parents-in-law, John F. and Anna Yurcek; nieces and nephews.
