FAIRMONT — Funeral service for Dorothy I. Marquardt Bahr, age 96, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy Marquardt Bahr passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 11, 2019, at her home in Fairmont.

Dorothy Irene Sheely was born March 22, 1923, to Fred and Alma (Martin) Sheely, in Waverly Township near Ormsby, Minn. In 1924, they moved to Fairmont, where Dorothy attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Fairmont Public Schools.

She married Francis “Bud” Marquardt of Winnebago Sept. 20, 1940. While Bud was serving in WWII in Europe, Dorothy worked at Fairmont Canning Company. She then briefly worked at Gunther’s IGA, and then at 3M for 32 years before retiring in 1985.

Bud died Jan. 29, 1979. Dorothy married Walter Bahr of Swea City, Iowa, on March 30, 1984. They lived in Fairmont and spent many years traveling and camping during the warmer months, and wintering in the Southwest.

In July 2008, they moved to Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. Walt moved to St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth in 2011 and died Aug. 30, 2016.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling, cooking, knitting, crocheting and spending time with friends. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. The most important part of her life was family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra Heatherly, Sharon (Tom) Roble, Wayne (Jean), DeeAnn (Art) Houck and Kevin (Melanie); siblings Donald Sheely, Grace Siebrass and Ilene Callstrom; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husbands; brother, Gilbert Sheely; and son-in-law, Larry Heatherly.
