FAIRMONT — A funeral service for Wilma A. Vigdal, age 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont, with interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Lakeview Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Wilma passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 21, 2019, at her home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wilma Alveda (Lubenow) Vigdal was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Ceylon, Minn., and spent much of her childhood there. She was the daughter of Bill and Selma (Wolford) Lubenow. Wilma graduated from Ceylon High School.

On Feb. 25, 1952, Wilma was united in marriage to Duane “Ole” Vigdal in Fairmont, Minn. Together the couple made their home in California; Estherville, Iowa; Ceylon, and later Fairmont. To this union five daughters were born: Amber, Cindy, Paula, Nikki and Penny. Wilma and Ole shared 61 years together before Ole passed away on March 1, 2013.

Wilma began working as a dental assistant for Dr. Krosch in Ceylon as well as evenings at the Ceylon Theater. Most recently, Wilma worked for over 38 years as a nursing assistant and later as an activities assistant at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. She enjoyed the staff and found the residents to be enjoyable and interesting. Wilma retired on April 4, 2008.

During her free time, Wilma like to plant flowers, play cards, visit and go out for coffee with friends, sit outside to read, travel with Ole to Grand Marais, Minn., and around the world, as well as other trips with her sister. She most loved all the time she was able to spend with her family, including her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Amber Tucker, Cindy Mulligan, Paula Gellert, Nikki Lamack, Penny Abel; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; adopted daughter, Mary Aga; sister, Nancy Steele; sister-in-law, Bernice Vigdal; as well as other family and friends.

Along with her parents, Bill and Selma Lubenow, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Duane “Ole” Vigdal; parents-in-law, John and Anna Vigdal; brothers-in-law, John Vigdal, Garry Vigdal and Bill Steele; sisters-in-law, Darlene Logan and Phyllis Steele; and nephew, Wade Steele.
