David Ralph Rosenberg was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of August and Leona (Schmidtke) Rosenberg. He attended school in Ceylon and graduated from Ceylon Public High School with the class of 1966. David then enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps on Aug. 16, 1966. David served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and received his honorable discharge on June 6, 1969. On July 11, 1970, David was united in marriage to Rosemary Bremer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, Minn. Together, the couple made their home on an acreage near Ceylon and were blessed with three children, Kandice, Krista, Brandon, and foster daughter, Karri. David worked for many years at John Morrel’s and helped out Clair Clark and Jack Rooney with auctioneering. David enjoyed working with wood and could often be found working away in his shop on his next project. He loved the exciting atmosphere of an auction and found great joy in attending and helping at area auctions. David enjoyed spending time tending to his garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. David was a member of the Nassen-Detert American Legion Post 529 of Ceylon for over 53 years and was honored to have served his country. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rosemary Rosenberg; children, Kandice Petschke, and Brandon Rosenberg; grandchildren, Hannah Petschke and Kaleb Petschke; sister, Roberta Walker and her husband, Roger; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and several other extended family and friends.
