ARMSTRONG — John Chris Feddersen died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 94. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with Father Merlin Schrad as Celebrant and Deacon John Rudd assisting.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Armstrong, Iowa. Military rites by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong.

John Chris Feddersen was born July 26, 1924, in rural Armstrong, Iowa, the son of Carl and Verna (Cox) Feddersen. He received his education in rural country school between Armstrong and Dolliver, Iowa.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed as a Sergeant over the motor pool with the 485th Medical Battalion in Heidelberg, Germany. Following his honorable discharge from military service, he returned to the area.

On Aug. 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Jeanine Huston in Fairmont, Minn. The couple made their home in the rural Armstrong/Dolliver area, where they raised their family and John farmed his entire life.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and going to horse and dog races while they wintered in Arizona following their retirement. Most important to John was spending time with his family.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong and a life member of the Armstrong VFW Post and the Farm Bureau.

Left to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Jeanine of Armstrong; daughter, Sharon Curtis of Colorado; son, Tom Feddersen (Brenda) of Armstrong; five grandchildren, Wendy Higgins, Sarah Walter, Jacob Kesler, Travis Feddersen, Tyler Feddersen; four great-grandchildren, Connor, Chase, Anna Higgins, and Rhett Feddersen.

John has been preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Kesler; his parents; six brothers, Ernie, Verdus, Henry, Elmer, Carl, Louie; and sisters, Erma Hanson, Emma McConnell, Anna Rankin, Edna Tordoff.
