Janet Lee (Peymann) Behrens was born July 26, 1935, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Niss) Peymann. Janet attended Zion Lutheran grade school and later graduated from Fairmont High School in 1953.
On April 17, 1955, Janet was united in marriage to Omar Behrens at Zion Lutheran Church in Fraser Township, Minn. The couple resided in Northrop, Minn., until moving to Fairmont in 1962. This union was blessed with two children, Gwen and Larry.
Along with caring for her family as a homemaker, Janet worked as a secretary at Federal Land Bank, which was later called Farm Credit Services, for over 20 years.
Janet and Omar shared over 64 years together.
Janet was a member of the Sertoma Club as well as being a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active with many different committees and groups over the years.
During her free time, Janet spent countless hours cooking and baking, especially pies. It gave her great joy to share those with others. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, whether it be playing cards, fishing, bowling, or wintering in Texas, all of which usually included an abundance of giggling. Janet most loved any time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Omar Behrens of Fairmont, Minn.; daughter, Gwen Lencowski and her husband, Tom of Mendota Heights, Minn.; son, Larry Behrens and his wife, Kris of Fairmont; grandchildren, Nathan Behrens and Brittany, Lisa Nelson and her husband, Devin, and John Lencowski and Kelly; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Martin Peymann and Mildred (Peymann) Rowley, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Peymann; sister, Marion Gieseke; brother-in-law, Darrell Roebbeke; and sister-in-law, Vivian Peyman.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to staff members of Mayo Hospice as well as the pastors from St. Paul Lutheran Church for the care and support they gave to Janet.
