Constance Dougherty

SHERBURN — A Service of Remembrance for Constance M. “Connie” Dougherty, 99, of rural Sherburn, Minnesota, formerly of Bayside, Queens, New York will be 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in their Parish Center in Sherburn, Minnesota. Services and Burial will be in Bayside and Flushing, New York.

Connie was called to her eternal rest on Friday evening, June 14, 2019 at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn, Minnesota surrounded by family. Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the Stoffel family will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 in the Parish Center of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, Minnesota.

Constance Mary Bailiff was born May 19, 1920 in Ruabon Wales, the daughter of George and Margaret (Woodward) Bailiff. She ran her own beauty shop in Wales until she met and married Thomas Dougherty on February 19, 1949 at St. Robert’s Church in Bayside, New York. They lived in Bayside, Queens, New York, where they raised two children. She became a citizen of the United States on December 4, 1980. Connie like to play bingo, go bowling on Tuesdays, and visit Atlantic City and Las Vegas. As her children grew up, she split her time between Queens and the lakes of Minnesota. She loved all dogs, as well as her children, grandchildren, friends and family. In 2013, Connie made her home at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn.

She is survived by her son, Thomas (Regina) Dougherty of Fresh Meadows, New York and their children, Katherine (Matt) Scala and Thomas; daughter, Glynis (Mark) Stoffel of rural Sherburn, Minnesota and their children, Matthew and Lucas (Veronica); nieces, Valerie (Phillip) Jones and Elizabeth (David) Jones-Griffith; and nephew, Colin (Jennie) Bailiff.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Thomas Dougherty; brother, George (Irene) Bailiff and their daughter, Julie Price.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Martin County Humane Society.
