GRANADA — Funeral services for Truman Rollo Benjamin Campe, age 85, of Granada, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Truman passed away Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2019, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, surrounded by his family.

Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center or St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Truman Rollo Benjamin Campe was born July 29, 1933, in Fairmont, Minn., to Henry and Edith (Thate) Campe. He graduated from Granada High School. On June 22, 1957, Truman was united in marriage to Shirley Elaine Hiller in Fairmont, Minn. This marriage was blessed with three children, Rhonda, Brad and Cheryl.

After their marriage, Truman and Shirley made their home near Granada, Minn. Truman farmed for many years, until retiring in 2013.

Truman was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, westerns, playing cards and was an avid Minnesota sports fan: Vikings, Twins and Timberwolves. He loved his time farming, working with machinery and always being available to help others.

Truman loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He never missed attending his grandchildren’s events.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda (Ken) Petrowiak of Granada, Brad Campe of Duluth; four grandchildren, Danielle (Wade) Blazejak, Cody Petrowiak (fiancée, Haley Gravenhof), Dylan Petrowiak, Max Campe; great-grandchildren, Ben and Brooks Blazejak; brothers, Lowelle (Shirley) Campe, Leonard (Joan) Campe; sisters-in-law, Marcella Carfield and Marcia Hiller; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edith Campe; wife, Shirley Elaine Campe; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Campe; brother, Philip (Ana Mae) Campe; sisters, Cleo (Bob) Meschke, Ruby (Kenneth) Rudy, Eleanor (Irvin) Wille; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl (Donna) Hiller, Harvey Hiller, George Carfield, Eunice (Floyd) Johnson; paternal and maternal grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the third floor nursing staff and Rehabilitation team at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center for the care and support they gave to Truman. They truly became his extended family.
