BLUE EARTH — Merelyn “Moe” Evans, age 91, of Blue Earth, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church and burial in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth, with full military honors.

Moe was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Blue Earth, Minn., son of Reinhold and Hazel (Rorman) Evans. He attended school in Blue Earth and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

On June 30, 1948, he married Violet Nemitz in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Moe sold real estate for Anchor & Olson Realty and was a serviceman for Minnegasco for 33 1/2 years, from 1954 until he retired in 1988.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 89 and VFW Post 4580, where he served as a post commander and was a member of the All State Post Commanders Team. Moe was a longtime member of VFW Honor Guard and a past president of the Blue Earth Lions Club.

Moe is survived by his wife, Violet; sons, Duane (Mary) Evans of Winnebago, Randy (Jean) Evans of Charles City, Iowa; daughters, Carol (Dennis) Ruser of Blue Earth, Sharol (Mark) St.Cin of Montgomery, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Lolita) Evans of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
