FAIRMONT – Memorial Services for Patrick “Pat” John Murphy, 71, of Fairmont, MN, will be 1:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2019 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. A private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Pat passed away on Memorial Day, Monday evening, May 27, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Patrick John Murphy was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1947 to Wallace R. and Mary Veronica (Guerber) Murphy in Blue Earth, MN. He attended school in Blue Earth until his family moved to Fairmont, MN in 1957. He graduated from Fairmont High School. After high school, Pat enlisted in the National Guard for six years.

On May 10, 1969, Pat was united in marriage to Prudie Austin at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. They were blessed with three children, John, Jesse and Jacquelyn. After their marriage, they made their home outside of Fairmont where Pat farmed and raised cattle. Pat worked at KSUM Radio Station in Fairmont from 1982 until 2005. While working for them, Pat and his brother, Mike, hosted the Daybreak from 1985 until 2005. Pat then worked at Wiechman Pig Company in Truman, MN.

Pat was a member of the American Angus Association and served on the board. Pat enjoyed golfing, bow hunting, cooking, gardening, playing cards, especially buck euchre, and going on fishing trips to the Lake of the Woods with friends. He had a love of nature and watching the birds and ducks and loved his chickens and cattle. Pat had a yellow corvette that he enjoyed to cruise around in. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Prudie Murphy of Fairmont; three children, John (Maggie) Murphy of CA, Jesse (Kelsey) Murphy of Welcome and Jacquelyn (Josh) Langerman of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren, Jack and Jake Murphy, Ava and Tucker Langerman, Keshaun Story and Lydia, Henry and Myla Murphy; brothers, Mike (Mary) Murphy, Joe (Linda) Murphy and Steve (Bonnie) Murphy; sister, Kathy McGowan; sister-in-law, Charlotte Murphy; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Veronica Murphy; parents-in-law, Orville and Virginia Austin; brother, Eddie Murphy; brother-in-law, Tom Austin; and nephew, Jason Austin.
