Marian M. Olson

JACKSON — Marian Maxine Olson, 87, of Jackson, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, at her residence in Jackson. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson, with Pastor John Schuetz officiating.  Burial will take place in July at Riverside Cemetery, Jackson.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Marian Maxine Olson was born June 11, 1931, in Lakefield, Minn., daughter of Herman and Lillian (Krueger) Pohlman. Marian was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. As a child, she attended Jackson County schools, graduating from Okabena High School in 1949.  Marian was united in marriage to Clayton Everett Olson on Oct. 22, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. The newlyweds moved to Minneapolis for a year and a half prior to moving to a farm in Jackson County. They were blessed with three children. Clayton was elected the Jackson County treasurer in 1963 when the family moved to their forever home in Jackson. Marian was a cook at Riverside Elementary School for several years prior to becoming a bookkeeper at First National Bank, later Bank Midwest for 23 years prior to retiring to spend more time with her family. After the death of her beloved husband, Clayton in 2010, Marian remained in their home until her passing on Friday, May 24, 2019, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 13 days. Marian was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson where she was involved in ladies bible studies and various circles. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking goodies, Marian won awards for her famous angel food cake at local fairs. Any person that was lucky enough to enjoy her cooking and baking was truly blessed. Marian was an avid sports fan. She followed her children’s co-ed softball games and was always there for all her kid’s and grandkid’s events. She enjoyed watching and following Minnesota professional sports teams. Marian enjoyed flowers, making sure that her house and yard always had flowers for everyone to enjoy. Marian is survived by children, Randy (Sue) Olson of Jackson, Minn., Rod (Leann) Olson of Hutchinson, Minn., Deb (Tom) Schuller of Jackson; grandchildren, Paul (Lisa Piper) Sathe of Charlotte, N.C., Matt (Nikki) Sathe of Eagan, Minn., Nolan (Carrie) Schuller of Jackson, Stacey (David) Westby of Huron, S.D.; great-grandchild, Sophia Ann Westby of Huron, S.D.; sister-in-law, Charlene Olson of Pengilly, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
